FULL GRAIN LEATHER VS OTHER TYPE

Find out why Full Grain Leather is the best choice for you!

WHAT IS FULL GRAIN LEATHER?

Full grain refers to the strongest and most durable part of an animal's hide. It is known for being the most flawless type of leather, making it the highest quality and most natural. Over time, it creates its own protective layer, known as a patina, which only natural leather can develop. It is beautiful, luxurious, and long-lasting.

The top layer of Full Grain Leather is untouched. It retains all of its natural marks and imperfections. It is also weather and damage-resistant, making it the most suitable for accessories, footwear, and upholstery.

Full Grain Leather is recognized as the highest quality of leather, which is why we use it for each of our products.

OTHER TYPES OF LEATHER

Corrected Grain Leather

Corrected grain leather can be made from the top grain or lower layers of the hide.

The correction process involves removing the intrinsic qualities of the leather, such as scratches or imperfections, by buffing or sanding it. This process compromises the natural protection of the leather, making it less durable and resistant.

Therefore, any leather that has been altered, repaired, or reshaped in any way is known as Corrected Grain Leather.

Top Grain Leather

Top grain means it is the upper layer of the hide but split from the highest level. It is slightly more affordable and less durable than full-grain leather.

It can be used to make enhanced or corrected grain products. However, not all corrected grain is top grain.

True top grain leather is ideal for nubuck products, such as jackets, boots, and

luggage.

Genuine Leather

Leather sold as Genuine Leather is split leather, taken from various layers of the hide. Its origin can be from the top grain, the softer lower sections where suede comes from, or even somewhere in between.

These qualities make genuine leather weaker, of lower grade, and less visually appealing compared to full-grain leather. If genuine leather is at one end, full-grain quality is at the other. While genuine leather is lower in quality, full-grain is elite, top-tier leather.

Now you know why Full-Grain is the best choice for you...
